Care and maintenance of the rose
Aktie
The rose, also known as the queen of the garden, is a versatile plant that can produce an abundance of flowers year after year with the right care. To keep your roses in top shape, it is essential to give them a sunny spot with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. The soil should be well-drained and rich in organic matter, so adding compost or rose fertilizer is a must.
When watering, it is important to keep the leaves dry, because wet leaves increase the chance of fungal diseases, such as powdery mildew or black spot. Water directly at the roots and preferably do this in the morning. Pruning is another important step: prune old and dead branches in the spring to rejuvenate the plant and stimulate flowering. Don't forget to regularly cut away faded flowers to promote new buds.
Finally, roses may require extra attention in the form of combating aphids and other pests. Use organic agents such as a mixture of water and dishwashing liquid, or use natural enemies such as ladybugs.
