Care and maintenance of daffodils

Daffodils are one of the most beloved spring bloomers, known for their bright yellow flowers and their ability to fill the garden with color and joy. These versatile bulbs are not only beautiful but also easy to care for, making them a favorite for both novice and experienced gardeners.

The best time to plant daffodils is in the fall, between September and November, before the ground begins to freeze. Plant the bulbs in a sunny or lightly shaded spot in well-drained soil. Make sure you plant them at a depth of about two to three times the height of the bulb, with the point facing upwards. Keep a distance of about 10 centimeters between the bulbs for a lush bloom.

Daffodils require little attention after planting. Water them when the soil is dry, especially during the growth period in early spring. Leave the foliage alone after flowering until it has turned yellow, so that the bulbs can store enough energy for the following year. Fertilization is not necessary, but a little organic fertilizer in early spring can help keep the plants healthy.
